In the quarter “La Ribera” you will see more fascinating buildings, the architecture really catches your eye. Again the area “La Ribera” has its origins in the Middle Ages. When you walk around that area you will realize quickly that Barcelona is also an exciting city for shopping. There is a wide range of interesting establishments and small shops. Between the Plaza de Catalunya and the Portaferrissa road lies a huge commercial centre with two large department stores. In addition to that there is are several smaller fashion and antique shops in the quarter El Eixample, which lies in the heart of the city. Again, this quarter is famous for its gothic buildings.
