Madrid's cheap hotels (mostly 2 Star Hotels, Hostal or Bed and Breakfast) are located pretty central. However it is recommendable to look for a higher class of hotels when you visit Madrid in the winter time since the cheaper hotels (hostales etc.) very often and sadly lack of central heating.
