Prague Tourist Attractions - Wenceslas Square - Josefov

Prague tourists head primarily for the Wenceslas Square, the Altstädter ring and the Karl bridge. The Karl bridge connects Kleinseite and the higher lying castle and therefore the old and new parts of the city. The central tourist area consists of five parts: the castle district Hradcany, the underneath lying Mal Strana (Kleinseite), Star Mesto (old part of town) located on the other side of the Karl bridge, with the Josefov district (the Jewish quarter) in the north and Nov Mesto (the new part of the city) in the south.

The royal road, which was used frequently for processions in the past, is the most important tourist route of Prague. It begins at the Prašná brána (Powder Tower) at the Námestí Republiky (Republic Square) and leads across the Cleletn to the Old town ring road. From there the tourist route passes by the astronomical clock and leads across the Karlova to the Karls bridge.

After crossing the bridge one follows the Mosteck by the park Mark Strana up to the baroque plaza Malostranske Námestí. From this place, roads go off, which lead via the long stairs to the castle. The Námestí Republiky with its fabulous city hall well Na Prkope leads to the Wenceslas Square, the centre of the shopping activity and also the nightlife.
