Eiffel Tower Paris

Eiffel Tower Paris - Tourist Attractions in Paris!

The Eiffel tower is the most well-known tourist attraction of Paris. Often tourists run around the 7th Arrondissement and can’t find the Eiffel Tower, but in fact it’s right around the corner from the Metro station.

The Eiffel Tower is easy to reach when you walk over the bridge Pont d´Iéna next to the Trocadero garden. Many tourists choose to view the Eiffel Tower just after seeing the attractions from the 1st Arrondissement which borders the 7th Arrondissement. The Eiffel Tower was built in honor of the 100 anniversary of the French Revolution in 1889. Within only two years 15,000 strings made of steel were connected with 2.5 million rivets. Its initial total weight was about 7,500 tons. The Eiffel Tower was designed in such a way that of despite its massive weight only four kilograms per square centimeter pressure is exerted on the soil – the same amount of pressure as human being would create by sitting on a chair.

This 330 meter Tower is named after it’s architect Alexandre Augusts Eiffel. In the first years after its completion it was a cause of dispute with that the Paris population, among other things Parisians were afraid the tower could fall apart. Today nobody could imagine Paris without the Eiffel Tower. Over 5,000 travelers visit this tourist attraction every day. Many tourists go up to the top of the tower via a diagonally running lift enjoying a magnificent view on the different floors of the Eiffel Tower. An alternative for sporty tourists is to actually walk all the way up. The stairs have 1,652 steps and an untrained visitor might become out of breath. But of course when arriving on the top the tourist will be rewarded for his effort with a view of up to 70 kilometers in good weather.

A great tip for buying souvenirs is the Tower’s integrated post office were you can buy special stamps. As funny as it might sound there is a cinema there too. The deluxe Restaurant is called the Jules Verne and has its own lift. However for this Restaurant it is advisable to make reservations six to eight weeks in advance.
