London Tourism: Hotels - Tourist Attractions - Vacations

Is it the world-known Buckingham Palace guards as one of the most traditional attraction of England or one of the more modern attractions such as the London Eye, the capital of England is the symbol of tourism for England and tourists would frequently choose it as their starting point for their vacation in England. London is one of few true cosmopolitan metropolises that Europe has to offer. A further symbol of London is the red double-decker bus, well-known in the whole world, however at the end of 2005 the city’s authorities started replacing the double-decker by red Mercedes Benz buses. Yet there are a lot of classical red double-decker buses around and when you are booking for a city tour, which I recommend strongly, you will notice that all tourist buses are classical double-deckers which makes it more fun to cruise around the city center.

London is infinite in variety and very dynamic. The city has 37 different ethnical subpopulations and each consists of more than 10,000 people. The number of inhabitants is going towards the ten-million-mark. In the past the capital of England has adapted incessantly to constant changing conditions. Today's London has only few in common with the settlements that once created the city along the banks of the Thames, in order to provide accommodation for the river dealers on their way to the sea. When the Romans came the city began to develop in rapid speed. The Romans build a fortress to protect themselves against the penetration of savages and Celtic tribes and named it Londinium. London was born!

To control the England better the Romans built fortresses and roads and introduced law regulations to the country. The Roman historian Tacitus described Londinium in the year 60 as a booming city with a commercial center full of travelers.
