Vienna Nightlife

Vienna Nightlife - Cafes, Opera, Clubs and Bars

The most popular area of Vienna for going out is probably the Bermudadreieck, an old, Jewish district close to the Ruprechtskirche. There are innumerable bars and taverns reflecting Vienna’s strong nightlife. Other popular quarters with fewer tourists are the Spittelbergviertel near the Amerlinghaus in the 7th and 8th district and the area around the Naschmarkt (the 4th district). As in most cities many of the nicest corners of Vienna lie outside of the classical tourist places, and are rather well-known with the people that actually live there. There are many clubs with a definite “Schicki Micki” - audience; and the dress code is obviously quite strict. The general rule is the smarter and/or more beautiful you are dressed up the faster you will get access to all the taverns, bars and clubs in Vienna. There are however good alternatives to the trendy nightlife locations, such as the more traditional bars called the “Heurigenkneipen” and most recently the numerous elegant Viennese Balls have become very popular also by tourists.

Clubs

Clubs are usually opened during the week until 2 am and on the weekends until 4 am; with many of the clubs however opening hours are vary a lot depending on the day of week. For nightlife lovers there are numerous bars and taverns in the 1st District, which open until 3 or 4 in the morning or even longer. The minimum to purchase and to drink alcohol in clubs and bars in Vienna is 18 years. A beer costs normally between 3.50 and 6 Euro depending on the club or bar. Detailed listing of all clubs, bars and discotheques and their different characteristics can be found on the Internet. What are the things to do when I start planning really cheap holidays. The two essential parts are on the one hand to find enough information about cheap hotels and cheap accommodation in general. The research on cheap accommodation should include all the alternatives to hotels as well: hostels, hostales, bed and breakfast, guesthouses, holiday rentals and so forth. The second thing to bear in mind planning a budget holiday is cheap transportation. What are the things to do when I compare cheap flights and train tickets for the cheapest deal available.
